BULLDOG FILM DISTRIBUTION ANNOUNCES ACQUISITIONS OF NEW BRITISH TITLES ‘THE MOOR’ AND ‘DIE BEFORE YOU DIE’ FOR RELEASE IN 2024
We are very pleased to have acquired two new British features set for release in 2024, both of which are set to screen at the upcoming Manchester International Film Festival.
DIE BEFORE YOU DIE is a dramatic thriller which takes unexpected and unconventional turns in a narrative following a hot-headed influencer who finds himself trapped six feet underground after an internet challenge organised by a mysterious group goes awry.
The film marks Bulldog’s second time working with co-writer/director Dan Pringle and producer Adam Merrifield’s production company White Lantern following the release of their BIFA-long-listed, cult-favourite, indie horror K-SHOP in 2016 – which also starred the same lead actor, Ziad Abaza (TYRANT, SAND CASTLE), who also serves as co-writer on DIE BEFORE YOU DIE. The film’s cast also includes Mim Shaikh (INFORMER, WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT?), Priya Blackburn (GET EVEN, BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY) and Harry Reid (AGATHA CHRISTIE’S WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION and EASTENDERS) – and will receive its World Premiere at Manchester International Film Festival on 23rd March.
Bulldog’s Head of Distribution & Acquisitions Philip Hoile said “DIE BEFORE YOU DIE is a striking work of true originality teasing viewers in with tense and claustrophobic genre conventions before taking you on an expansive and fascinating cinematic journey to an unexpected conclusion. We’re very pleased to be working with Dan, Adam and Ziad again to get the film out to UK & Irish audiences.”
Co-writer/director Dan Pringle said: “The team at Bulldog Film Distribution did a fantastic job with the UK release of my debut feature and it is subsequently a pleasure to partner with them once again for DIE BEFORE YOU DIE. The British indie film scene is enduring one of its toughest moments but it’s players like Bulldog, with their enduring appetite for taking on unconventional movies, that make the creative adventure still worthwhile.”
Bulldog have also acquired THE MOOR, the feature debut from Yorkshire-based filmmakers Chris Cronin (director/producer), Paul Thomas (writer/producer) and Pawel Pracz (editor/producer). A slow burn dramatic horror drenched in atmosphere and featuring elements of folk horror, the supernatural and a modern true crime twist, the film world premiered at London’s FrightFest in 2023 to rave reviews.
THE MOOR follows Claire, played by Sophia La Porta (CENSOR, BEEN SO LONG), who is approached by Bill (David Edward-Robertson – THE STREET, SHAMELESS), the father of her murdered childhood friend, to help investigate the haunted moor he believes to be his son’s final resting place. The film also stars and Elizabeth Dormer-Phillips (FORTITUDE, OFF THE RAILS), Bernard Hill (LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, TITANIC), Vicki Hackett (SKY PEALS, THE SELFISH GIANT) and Mark Peachey (ART IS DEAD, CYBERLANTE).
Philip Hoile said: “THE MOOR is a compelling and incredibly atmospheric work which transports you deep into haunting terrains both physical and emotional as it tackles the dark recesses of personal and communal trauma up in the mysterious landscape of the British peatland moors. This is a film with a high pedigree of cinematic craft on display that looks and sounds amazing on the big screen and has one of the best, and most impactful, endings I’ve seen in a long time.”
The filmmakers said “Creating THE MOOR has been an exhilarating journey, and witnessing the audience’s reactions at its FrightFest premiere was incredibly rewarding. We’re a northern-based production, so being able to tell a horror story based in the heart of Yorkshire made the experience all the more hauntingly authentic. With Bulldog Film Distribution championing the film, we’re excited to share this uniquely British horror experience with audiences across the UK & Ireland.”
THE MOOR will also screen at Manchester International Film Festival (20th March).
